Sustainable Design

The sustainable design of One Community is meant to go beyond self-sufficiency to include all aspects of conscious living for The Highest Good of All. If we are to create a sustainable world, sustainability will need to be embraced by the mainstream public and One Community’s sustainable design strategy is meant to accomplish this by bringing together the people capable of making it happen in an environment of on-going collaboration. As we build our infrastructure and open source share everything we are creating, we will not only demonstrate comprehensive sustainability and low-impact living, we will also demonstrate what people who define living a fulfilling life as a life of harmony, contribution, and cooperation looks like.

ECO-BUILDING GOALS

The primary goal of the One Community eco-building strategy is to demonstrate large-scale sustainability, break it down so it can be duplicated in part or as a whole, and make the information and resources for creating it elsewhere available to everyone who wants them. To this end we are designing One Community to make ecological living more attractive and accessible to the general public through a general commitment to food, energy, and construction designs that are eco-friendly, cost effective, duplicable, sustainable, and whenever possible, artistic and beautiful too. Food production infrastructure will be capable of feeding thousands, energy infrastructure will produce a surplus, and the construction designs will house 20-60 people for less than the cost of an average US home. Putting it all together will re-think what is possible with ecological living as we build, evolve, and open source share models for:

● Zero-waste living
● 100% renewable energy – off-grid living
● 100% food self-sufficiency – grown organically
● 7 Eco-artistic Themed Communal Living Pods

EXPANDED SUSTAINABLE DESIGN GOALS

In the process of all of this our full-time team of volunteers will also be living and working side-by-side as a creative and collaborative culture. This give us an additional opportunity to look at all other aspects of living including education, social architecture, cultural expression, governing structures, and more. We are calling this creating “sustainability for the complete human experience” and have designed specific plans to open source share and include the following as parts in any person’s ecological living, learning, or visiting experience with One Community:

● Group Dining
● Governmental Structure
● Creativity Classes and Musical Expression
● Nature Interaction and Appreciation Time
● Yoga, Meditation and Other Mindfulness Classes
● A Stimulating and Educational Childcare Environment
● Model for visitors to participate these and all other aspects of daily function at One Community

There is even more to the model than what is listed here but the overall summary is to demonstrate our version of conscious living as completely eco-friendly, self-sufficient, and more enriching, affordable, and fun environment than most people are experiencing now with the tools to duplicate it so people will.
